Wireless site surveys · a CableFi service

Wireless site surveys, designed by RF engineers.

A wireless site survey measures how signal moves through your building, so the network hits its coverage targets on day one.

Predictive design · On-site heat maps · Post-install validation

A Wi-Fi survey on one office floor: the walls cut low to show the plan, four access points with their coverage spreading across the rooms, a survey engineer with a tablet walking the dashed survey path down the corridor, and one room checked off at target.

01: Estimate

How much does a wireless site survey cost?

Most commercial surveys run from about $3,000 to $10,000 or more, by square footage. Leave your details and slide to your facility size for an estimate.

1Your details

All fields are required except company and floor plan.

Floor plan (optional)

PDF, PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 20 MB. With a plan we send an exact fixed-fee quote.

02: On-site survey process

Real engineers. Real site visits. Real RF data.

Our own wireless engineers and technicians come to your facility and hand you a report you can act on.

  1. 1

    Scope and schedule

An engineer reviews your site and goals, then books a visit around your operations.

  2. 2

    Capture on site

A technician walks every area, capturing active and passive RF data on every floor.

  3. 3

    Engineered report

Heat maps, an AP placement and mounting plan, channel and power settings.

03: Why survey

A few APs and a prayer isn't a network.

Every wall, rack and machine bends RF; a survey finds the problems before your users do.

  • Dead zones where coverage drops without warning
  • Interference between access points
  • Capacity that collapses at shift change

04: Industrial & warehouse

Where the building fights back.

Tall racking, dense metal stock and constant forklift traffic: a survey built for that environment is how you design around it.

One warehouse aisle between two runs of selective pallet racking, a cross aisle behind it. An access point hangs on a drop rod from the roof joists over the centre line of the aisle, above the racking, tagged AP01; its coverage cone lands on the aisle floor behind the near run, while the stocked racks cast a hatched RF shadow into the next aisle.AP01
Stocked racking casts RF shadows into the next aisle; the survey places each AP where it covers the aisle.

05: Survey types

The right survey at every stage.

  • Predictive designModel coverage from your floor plans before construction.
  • Pre-deployment surveyConfirm the model with measurements in the live building.
  • Post-deployment validationProve the installed network meets its targets, area by area.
  • Troubleshooting & remediationFind dead zones and interference, and write up the fix.

In every report

  • Heat maps of measured signal, interference and dead zones
  • An AP placement and mounting plan with channel and power
  • Real throughput, roaming and latency numbers

Wireless site survey FAQs

What's the difference between a Wi-Fi site survey and a wireless site survey?

They're the same thing. 'Wireless site survey' is the term network engineers, RFPs and IT standards use; 'Wi-Fi site survey' is the everyday phrasing. CableFi performs predictive, on-site passive and active, and post-deployment surveys under either name.

How much does a wireless site survey cost?

Most commercial Wi-Fi site surveys run from about $3,000 for a small facility (around 10,000 sq ft) to $10,000 or more for very large industrial sites (500,000 sq ft and up). Price scales with square footage, ceiling height, how complex the environment is and the survey type. The calculator on this page gives an estimate for your facility size.

What comes with a CableFi Wi-Fi site survey?

Annotated floor-plan heat maps, an AP placement and mounting plan, antenna selection, channel and power recommendations, a bill of materials, and a written summary with prioritized fixes where they apply.

How long does a wireless site survey take?

Predictive designs typically turn around in 3 to 7 business days after we receive floor plans. On-site surveys depend on facility size; most warehouses and plants take 1 to 3 days on site, plus reporting.

Predictive or on-site: which survey do I need?

Predictive suits new construction and budgeting. On-site (passive and active) is the one for validating a live environment, certifying an install or troubleshooting Wi-Fi problems.

Can CableFi install the network after the survey?

Yes. We can design, install, terminate and commission the wireless infrastructure (cabling, access points, switching and controllers), so one company is accountable from survey to sign-off.
